Tha Khek certifies 71 old colonial buildings as national heritage.

Khammouan province has been certified 71 French buildings and houses as historical conservatories to preserve as a historical learning center for the next generation and become another important province for attracting domestic and international tourists.
The deputy Mayor of Tha Khek, Mr. Sihnguan Inthalard, said that: the Provincial General Assembly in 2024 plans to make Thakek municipal city the centre of investment, trade and tourism of the province as it has many outstanding tourism attractions, that include the old French colonial buildings.
A committee has has surveyed the old French colonial buildings of Tha Khek, and registered them as a national heritage buildings.
These buildings include four houses: Thakhaeknue, Thakhaekkang, Lao Phoxay and Somsanouk villas plus 71 other buildings (28 public buildings and 43 manors).
