The Bua Thong Festival is 1st November to 13th December, and the festival part is a slight exaggeration… Known in Thailand as Bua Thong, the Mexican sunflowers bloom with a reckless abundance in mid-November each year. The location is a a series of mountain meadows high above the village of Ban Mae U Khor, 30 kmms east of the town of Khun Yuam.
If you are in the area, its well worth the detour to take in the sights. At peak period traffic is heavy as its a popular domestic tourism destination, with Bangkokians enjoyong the cooler northern region’s sights on their annual holidays.
